Our response to the June article in the Providence Journal titled "General Assembly roundup: PTSD could be treated with medical marijuana"
September 10, 2015
PTSD is still not an acceptable condition covered under medical marijuana and Hospice Patients are forced to wait the 6-12 weeks like any other patient does for their license. The General Assembly will be meeting again (possibly Jan ’16) to take a vote.
It’s really a travesty that our service people are suffering with PTSD when they could find almost immediate relief from chronic mental pain with medical marijuana. Regarding Hospice patients – there should be no question about expediting the wait time to within 72 hours for their license. It’s all about keeping someone comfortable during this phase of their life and many hospice providers find that it’s a meaningful treatment option.
